The Next Generation: Breeding Haze with Legendary Landraces

The Next Generation: Breeding Haze with Legendary Landraces

Here they come… the next strains to be pollinated by my legendary Original Haze male. My goal is to select the best plants based on their effects and unique qualities—and, of course, haze them!

Strains in the Breeding Program:

  • Afropip Malawi

  • Cannabiogen Mango Biche

  • Colombian Corinto

  • USC Colombian Gold ‘70

  • Jamaican ‘80

These are carefully chosen to cross with my Haze male, ensuring only the finest genetics move forward. The best Colombians will be kept and used to recreate something close to the original Haze—a tribute to one of the most iconic strains in history. Different combinations will be tested to refine both effect and flavor.

Breeding the Classic Jamaican

I’m especially excited about the Jamaican ‘80, as viable Jamaican seeds are incredibly rare. Out of 50 seeds, I used 25, and 11 have successfully germinated—not bad for such old genetics, stored in the freezer for preservation.

Jamaican strains have been on my bucket list for a long time, but finding the right one has been challenging. Many modern versions, like Jamaican Blue Mountain, are mixed with indica, while Lamb’s Bread is often weak and inbred. Hopefully, this batch contains pure old-school Jamaican genetics. If I find a true gem, she will be feminized for easy propagation and, naturally, crossed with Haze. It should be a perfect match!

Mango Madness: Mango Biche Meets Manga Rosa

Another fascinating strain in this project is Cannabiogen Mango Biche. I’m considering a cross with my Manga Rosa, aiming to shorten the flowering time while maintaining that legendary terpene profile.

My first experience with a true mango terpene profile was with Zamal Mangu Carrot—a magical herb! The uplifting, social high made it an instant favorite, especially among partygoers. If I can recreate that effect while adding stability and vigor, it could be something truly special.

Looking Ahead

This project is all about preserving, refining, and reimagining classic landraces. I’ll also be adding Cannabiogen Punto Rojo to the mix later, which should make for some interesting comparisons to Haze. Each step brings me closer to unlocking new expressions of these legendary genetics.

Stay tuned for updates as the breeding unfolds—this is just the beginning!
