This line combines a carefully selected DJ Short Blue Velvet mother with my multi-tested Original Haze ’90 breeder male. The mother was selected after smoke testing for the quality and positive character of her effect.

Blue Velvet, also known as Blueberry Thai, is one of the classic early members of DJ Short’s Blue family. Its ancestry traces back to Purple Thai — itself derived from Oaxacan Gold and Chocolate Thai — crossed with an Afghan Indica. The original line was known for its long branches, large striped calyxes, foxtailed flowers and lavender-to-red foliage. Its aromatic profile was described as resting between fruit and flowers, supported by a deeper hash-like Afghan background.

Of the two Blue-family crosses, Blue Velvet represents the more elegant and Sativa-influenced direction. The Purple Thai ancestry brings floral complexity, exotic fruit, colour and an uplifting euphoric character, while the Afghan contribution adds resin, body and depth.

My Original Haze ’90 male reinforces the old tropical Sativa side of the genetics. He contributes increased resin production, potency, THCV potential and the positive, electric and long-lasting cerebral qualities repeatedly observed in his offspring.

The combination may produce substantial variation. Some plants should retain Blue Velvet’s colourful, relatively compact floral expression, while others may become taller and more Haze dominant, with increased stretch, long branches and pronounced foxtailing.

Aromas may include sweet berries, red fruit, lavender, exotic flowers, earthy hash and warm spice, followed by sharper citrus, dry wood, metallic resin and incense from the Original Haze male.

The effect should be euphoric, creative and socially engaging. Blue Velvet already possesses an uplifting head-and-body balance traditionally suited to daytime activity, social situations and creative work. The additional Haze influence is expected to increase clarity, intensity and duration while reducing any remaining heaviness.
